Review | Rimmel London Glam’ EYES HD Eye Shadow Quad
I’m totally continuing my drugstore kick with this product! I happened to see it when I was walking through CVS and the combo of my fav shade of green AND cute packaging just lured me in! So I decided to buy it, film a tutorial on it, and review it since it was new to my collection!
I totally haven’t said what palette this is, huh?! Well it’s the Rimmel Glam’EYES HD Eye Shadow Quad in Green Park. I believe I paid around $8.00 for this, but don’t quote me on that! This is obviously not your normal quad of putting 4 pots of eyeshadows side by side… they went all out with decorating this in a British flag motif!
I have a tutorial coming using mainly this palette, but before we get into that I have to say how surprised I was by the quality of this bad boy! It definitely has it’s pros and cons… but IMO there are wayyy more pros!
So let’s start off with the good stuff! This quad is okay on the pigmentation and has a pretty good color payoff for a drugstore quad! The shadow is not chalky and doesn’t have a ton of fallout! For anyone who doesn’t know how to make a smoky eye… this gives step by step instructions on the back with colors personalized to the look! You can choose whether to use the eye shadow the way the instructions say, or create your own look using all or one of the colors! I would recommend using a colored eyeshadow base like a NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk to really get the full effect of each color! You have to remember what you’re working with here… It’s not Sugarpill, so it won’t be so vibrant!
Now to the cons….. you need an eye shadow base for the full effect! It’s not as pigmented as I would like for such a gorgeous array of colors, but it is still very pretty in person. They claim that it is HD, but I would have to disagree slightly. I took pictures immediately after creating my tutorial, and it wasn’t as vibrant of a shadow as I would’ve hoped! But….. again… it looks pretty IN PERSON!!
Also, the little bitty teeny weeny slivers of color they give to create the shape of the flag are TOO THIN! My pencil brushes barely fit in there! That was extremely annoying and made me accidentally apply too much product!
Overall, I think for the price-point of this palette it is pretty good! I also think that if you are just starting into makeup and getting your collection going… this is a way to get a bunch of colors in one palette! Hey… us everyday girls don’t always want our eye shadow greeting people before we do… and this is an eye shadow quad for those moments!
Do you guys have any of these palettes? Which Color? Do you love yours?! Let me know in the comments!!!
