October Birchbox 2012
I had a hard time getting my Birchbox again this month! Not sure what’s up with my mailman, but they are losing it haha I’m a little late with all of my traveling, but I wanted to show you guys what came in my box since this is the one subscription service that actually varies from person to person!
The first product I received is a HUGE favorite for this month! It was Essie’s Skirting the Issue! This is the perfect Oxblood Red Nail Polish… Right on trend for the fall! I even did a oxblood lip tutorial, that’s how much I love this color! The pigment on this is amazing and I got a darrrrk color with only two coats! Seems like essie is trying to change my mind on the formulation of their nail polishes! Kudos, Essie & birchbox for this one!
The second product in my box was Sprout Lip Balm, mine was the Cocoa flavor and it smells like I am lathering cocoa butter on my lips lol. This lip balm does an amazing job at hydrating my lips, though! it is beeswax-based and doesn’t have a sticky or tacky feeling! I can’t sttttand a sticky chapstick or gloss, so this is giving my life right now. I can see myself reaching for this in the colder months to come!
The next couple of products were my least favorites this month.
The Marie Veronique Organic Body Oil didn’t really do anything amazing for me! I did notice that it moisturized my skin, but I had to wait a few minutes before touching anything or else the oil would get on my clothes or sheets. I don’t mind oils, but I am always terrified that they will stain anything they come into contact with! It’s said to sink in immediately, but I didn’t want to find out the truth the hard way!
The Joanna Vargas Daily Serum that came in the box totes a pretty amazing claim that it will help reduce dark spots and fight wrinkles, however there is no real way for me to report that to you all. However, with an $85.00 price tag I know that this is a product I shouldn’t bother falling in love with it because I can’t afford it. Those are the breaks! With a price tag like that, it HAS to work!!
My absolute LEAST favorite of this box was the Luna Lemon Zest Bar. Holy cow, was this the NASTIEST thing I have ever tasted! I eat pretty healthy, so it’s not like I can’t handle things that are somewhat cardboard-y. This takes cardboard to a whole new level. I’m not sure if the other flavors are more yummy, but all I could stomach was the lemon frosting on the top, and that was even too strong of a taste for me!
That was my box for the month! I was secretly hoping for the Beauty Blender and I still haven’t received one! Fingers crossed that I’ll get one sooner or later!
What came in your box? Are you signed up for Birchbox? What do you think of their service? Heads up…. Birchbox offices were drastically affected by Hurricane Sandy, so bear with them if your November box comes late!
XO,
Al
