January 2013 Birchbox

I got my January birchbox so early this month! I was sooooo excited!  This month had some pretty cool samples that I am excited to try out! Again, if you have never heard of birchbox, it is a monthly subscription service that delivers beauty samples to your door once a month! It costs $10/month, and I have found some of my holy grail products through this service!

First up was something I had been hoping to try ever since I saw it in a Youtubers

box a while ago! It’s the Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Styling Heat Protectant Spray. It retails for $23 for 4oz. and I am so excited to try this out! Not only is it a heat protectant, it doubles as a light hairspray! I’ve been on a major healthy hair kick, more than usual, so I am hoping this works well!

I also received the Oscar Blandi Pronto Wet Instant Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner samples. I will probably have the same problem of not being able to say whether they work because it’s not a large enough sample :(.  This shampoo is supposed to make your hair look better for longer thanks to it’s volumizing formula! The full-sized bottles are $24.00 each, FYI

In my box was this sample of Nicole by Nicole Richie, and I am IN LOVE with this fragrance! It’s $55.00 for a 50mL bottle, but I promise you will need a bigger one because you will want to wear it every day! According to the Birchbox site it has “a fruity blackberry top note that is refined with notes of amber, Moroccan rose, lily of the valley, and papyrus in the middle. Seductive vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood round out the fragrance.” I’m not good for describing fragrances, but trust me… Nicole hit the nail on the head with this one!

Next up is Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè (24-Hour Miracle Cream)! This cream is said to give the skin a lot of moisture without being oily or greasy. It is a cult MUA moisturizer, and they must be trying to reach the normal consumer market now. It has shea butter, aloe and soy proteins… doesn’t it just sound like a moisture cocktail for your face?!! I’ll be testing this out this week to let you guys know! This rings in at $28 for a 75mL bottle.

This last product came JUST on time! I’ve been needing to get another liquid eyeliner and got the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in my box! Eyeko is a London-based company that knows how to DELIVER when it comes to eyeliners lol. This is a felt tip eyeliner and the black is super dark and dries matte! The tip is very precise, so you can make amazing winged looks! One problem with this product is that I didn’t seem to get anymore product out after my third or fourth use. I’m not sure if this wasn’t a full-sized sample, but I was really disappointed when my felt tip dried up so fast! Comment below and let me know if this happened to you. Also, these babies are $15 a pop, so I hope I just got a faulty eyeliner!

That was my box this month, and I can admit that it is much better than the past few months! Are you subscribed to the birchbox service? What was your favorite sample this month?! See you guys in my next post!

XO,

Al
