August 2012 Birchbox
I have recently decided to do my birchbox and myglam hauls on my blog instead of as videos…. So here is my first one! I got my birchbox in the mail first this month and decided to dig right in when I noticed the new bright yellow box! The box was also a lot longer which made me think something biiiiiiiig was inside! Also, 15% of this months Birchbox Shop purchases will be applied to the Pencils of Promise charity to help build a school! I’ve already made my purchases on the website, so try to get yours in, too!
It had a beauty school theme with all the beauty basics, tips, and tricks that you could ever need on a fold-out insert! Anyway, I’ll just list what I had inside in order of what was on my list:
1) Juicy Couture- Vivia la Juicy La Fleur
This was a nice small spritzer sample of an extremely popular fragrance. It has wild berries, mandarin, and waterlily all blended into an extremely girly, yet mature scent. I can’t say I was too crazy about this one, but I can see how some people would love it! Full size of this is $70.00! Not too crazy for a well-known perfume of a high end brand, but it would be something I would pass on, personally. If you have this fragrance, tell me what it is you love about it! For some reason, it just didn’t mis with my natural scent!
2) Miss Jessie’s Original Curly Meringue
This product I am sooooooo excited to try out! You guys know I’m on a natural hair experimenting highhhh right now! I have heard so much about Miss Jessie’s products, but I just didn’t want to shell out the money that comes with this brand without trying it first. A full size of this product is $22.00, and with as much as I’m sure I’ll use… if I purchase a full-size it’ll be because I used my birchbox points! Either way, I’ve heard wonderful things about this line and this product, so I can’t wait to try it and give you guys an update!
3) Miss Jessie’s Original Créme de la Créme Conditioner
Another Miss Jessie’s product…. noooooo…. this can’t be….. Have I died and gone to heaven?!?! (I was actually missing my Sudsy Shampoo, so if all 3 would have made it to me I probably would have fainted.. don’t worry, though, Birchbox is fixing their mistake). I am just as excited about this product because they are sort of a package deal. As soon as I get my shampoo in, I will test all three, and tell you guys what I think! One thing I will say about this conditioner sample at first glance… this is NOT enough product for my extremely thick hair . I like to use a lot of conditioner in my hair so that I can detangle easily, so I’m not sure that this sample size will make it! I will make the best of it, though. Full-size $16
4) Sabon Foot Cream
This is something we all should be interested in the summer months. This is an aloe-based lotion that is meant to give your skin a deep moisturized feeling. It’s best to use this at bedtime because that is when your skin is doing the most work to repair itself. With the first ingredient being water, I’m sure it will really hydrate my skin! I will say, the tube it is in and the smell it has just instantly makes me think of the doctors office. It just smells like a hospital :-/ At first use it smells like cream for a diaper rash or something of the sort, but it is very smoothing. It has a thin consistency, but still feels like it would do the job! Look out for a review of this on my blog! Full-size $16.00
5) TALIKA lipocils expert
This seemed so cool when I first saw it! It’s a plant-derived lash serum that promotes lash growth without any side effects. I can’t actually speak to whether or not it’ll give you side effects because I haven’t actually tried it yet, but I will say that I am excited to give it a whirl. My lashes are already pretty long, but there’s no such thing as too long, right?! Full size pricing on this product is $55.00, so unless I see some sort of miracle, I won’t be purchasing this. However, if you have shorter lashes and it drives you crazy, this product is so expensive, that it just might work lol. No, but seriously, it’s worth giving it a try at the very least.
6) Shick HYDRO Silk Razor (Birchbox Find of the month)
Finding this razor in my box was a pleasant surprise this month, and it was obvious that this is what caused the need for the larger length box! I have been receiving a lot of razors through sampling companies, and I have to admit that I really like being able to try them out! I know that I wouldn’t buy a more expensive razor all willy nilly unless I knew it was good. Summer isn’t over just yet, so I will be sure to put this to use and let you guys know how long it keeps my legs smooth. It has a water-activated moisturizing serum around the blades that is supposed to make your legs feel silky smooth (for up to 2hrs after shaving!) There are 5 blades, so you’ll definitely get a close shave, which is a plus!! Can’t wait to see if it holds up to its name!
So… that is everything I got in my birchbox this month! I think they are currently on a waitlist at the moment… so if you haven’t signed up, click here to get your name on that list to be notified when a spot opens up!
Be sure to let me know what you think of me doing the birchbox posts on my blog! Leave all of your comments in the comments section! Talk to you guys in the next post!
